Another Buffalo Sabres development camp is in the books. \u00a0<\/p>\n
It was a smaller group of prospects than in years past after the Rochester Americans\u2019 deep playoff run. \u00a0<\/p>\n
They wrapped up at LECOM Harborcenter with the annual three-on-three game that was followed by a shootout, which saw a highlight reel, between-the-legs goal from 2022 sixth-rounder Jake Richard. \u00a0<\/p>\n
It closed the door on four days of work for young players in the Sabres pipeline. \u00a0<\/p>\n
The group included this year’s Sabres draft picks, including first-round selection Radim Mrtka. The big defenseman got his first taste of the NHL fresh off being selected ninth overall. \u00a0<\/p>\n
“His ability to skate and use his stick and bend is really good, and I think it was really good for him to come to camp and see all the other players,\u201d said Amerks Head Coach Michael Leone. \u201cThere are a lot of good players. The talent level was very impressive.”<\/p>\n
“We learned a lot about it when I was a kid, but here it’s a bit different. Here, it’s more professional,\u201d said Mrtka. \u201cI take in a lot of things. It’s going to be great to do the things they show me.”<\/p>\n
