The Canadian ice hockey defenseman, 25, who was recently traded from the New York Islanders to the Montreal Canadiens, married sports reporter Alexa Serowik<\/a> on Canada Day, Tuesday, July 1, in Newport, Rhode Island. The couple’s traditional wedding ceremony took place at St. Mary’s Church, and was followed by a “Gatsby vibe” reception at Rosecliff Mansion<\/a>.<\/p>\n “\u200b\u200bIt\u2019s wholeheartedly been a fairy tale and dream come true. Noah tops the list in that respect. It feels like I\u2019ve come full circle in Newport from going to the mansions as a child, to reporting there, to now marrying the love of my life there,” Serowik tells PEOPLE. “The whole thing is a fairy tale.”<\/p>\n The wedding festivities kicked off on Monday, June 30, with a “preppy New England” welcome party at Clarke Cooke House<\/a>. The setup at the 18th-century venue featured yachting d\u00e9cor with pink and green lattice, banquettes, and mahogany bars with light bites and cocktails. Guests wore cocktail attire with pops of pinks and greens, and Serowik a custom black Vera Wang dress with accents of the two colors.<\/p>\n The following day, the couple and their 200 wedding guests gathered at St. Mary’s, the same church where John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis<\/a> tied the knot.<\/p>\n Classically trained opera singer and Boston Bruins anthemist Todd Angilly<\/a> sang at the ceremony, and\u00a0trumpeters and string players also performed. Fittingly, the church’s historic pipe organ was built in Canada.<\/p>\n Lauren Fair<\/a><\/p>\n Noah Dobson and Alexa Serowik on their wedding day<\/p>\n A Catholic mass was officiated by a family friend, Father John Arens of St. Sebastian’s School in Massachusetts.<\/p>\n “Marriage for us is a sacred vow,” Serowik notes.<\/p>\n Serowik walked down the aisle wearing a “traditional” Rita Vinieris<\/a> wedding gown from the Rivini collection<\/a>. Her hair was styled by Goldi Schwartz<\/a>, and her makeup was applied by Cat Mignano<\/a>. She later changed into a “sparkly and maybe a bit unexpected” dress designed by Galia Lahav<\/a>.<\/p>\n During cocktail hour, Angilly performed Canada and the United States’ national anthems. Outside was a Tuscan table, fresh seafood and a speciality martini bar.<\/p>\n Having been a theatre major at Boston College, the bride knew how to “bring the drama” at her reception. In addition to hiring ’70s band Super Trans AM<\/a>, Boston-based DJ SNAX<\/a> and vocalist Nikki Nicole, she commissioned custom lighting from ATRTreehouse<\/a>.<\/p>\n “We leaned into reds for Rosecliff,” Serowik says. “Red roses, red linens, red lighting, and additionally some bright pops of hot pink florals and greens mixed in. Entr\u00e9es were roasted cod, char-grilled filet and roasted vegetable ravioli.<\/p>\n Slices of the “very large” wedding cake adorned with fresh red roses were served for dessert.<\/p>\n “Noah\u2019s tiers are his favorite \u2014 traditional carrot cake with cream cheese frosting \u2014 and my tiers are my favorite \u2014 lemon cake with lemon buttercream frosting,” Serowik says, noting that they also had a few layers of traditional white cake.<\/p>\n Lauren Fair<\/a><\/p>\n Noah Dobson and Alexa Serowik cut into their wedding cake<\/p>\n As an extra treat, fries and grilled cheese were brought out as a late-night snack.<\/p>\n The wedding was planned by Katie Ryan Events<\/a>.<\/p>\n Dobson and Serowik met on the exclusive dating app Raya in January 2022.<\/p>\n “Both of us were on a flight so we ended up chatting the whole night on the app,” Serowik remembers. “I was flying home to Boston from Miami after covering the Patriots versus Dolphins game with ABC6 and he was flying back to New York from a road trip with the team.<\/p>\n Lauren Fair<\/a><\/p>\n Noah Dobson and Alexa Serowik on their wedding day<\/p>\n She continues, “After weeks of a lot of FaceTiming, texting and talking on the phone, I visited him in New York \u2014 I was based in Boston at the time \u2014 and the rest was history.”<\/p>\n Dobson popped the question on the beach at sunset on Prince Edward Island (PEI) on July 8, 2024.<\/p>\n “He picked me up \u2014 in sweats, no makeup, hair still wet from the shower \u2014 and we got ice cream and went to eat it at a beautiful spot on the beach,” Serowik recalls. “Before I knew it, he was down on one knee proposing.”<\/p>\n The number eight is now not only “magic” to the couple because it represents their engagement date, but because it has played several roles throughout their love story.<\/p>\n “Not only Noah\u2019s number for the New York Islanders, but also my birthday, April 8, my home address, and Noah\u2019s own personal significance tied to the number,” Serowik explains. “He wore #53 in junior hockey for his late grandfather… five plus three equals eight. And eight represents the infinity symbol.
