He fell face-first into the boards after being hit by P.O. Joseph on a power play. He was partially carried to the locker room by teammate David Pastrnak and a trainer. The Bruins announced that Marchand was unlikely to return. However, fans and teammates are still upset about the hit by Pierre-Olivier Joseph. David Pastrnak, the game’s hero, has criticized NHL officiating for failing to call a foul and declare a penalty, despite scoring his 32nd goal of the season.
When asked about Brad Marchand’s injury, Pastrnak said, “I mean, I didn’t see the play until the replay. So, now, obviously, it’s never good to lose your captain, you know. And especially players like Mary, who never lays on the ice, you know, and that is not a no-call penalty. That’s a little crazy to me.”
Upset Davis Pastrnak also added, “I thought it was hit from behind, especially, you know, a player got injured and a guy like Mary who is pretty tough uh so obviously hopefully he’s going to be alright.” Joe Sacco, the franchise head coach, has provided a brief update on Marchand’s injury, alongside Pastrnak. “I haven’t heard anything yet.” The coach has also stated that “He obviously didn’t return to the game. I’ll probably know more tomorrow. I have to look at the play again.”
But how did the injury happen to Brad Marchand? In the Bruins-Penguins game, Pierre-Olivier Joseph hit Brad Marchand, causing him to collide against the board and fall to the ground, possibly hurting his shoulder. Despite the injury ending the game for Marchand, Joseph was not called out by the referees, surprising David Pastrnak who scored a goal in the power play.
Also Read: NHL fans express concern as Brad Marchand takes devastating hit during Bruins vs Penguins showdown
Boston Bruins captain, Mark Marchand, has recorded his 16th NHL point this season, with 47 points in 61 games.
