\t\t\t\t\tThe Toronto Maple Leafs have traded enforcer Ryan Reaves<\/a> to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for defenseman Henry Thrun<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Leafs officially moved out forward Ryan Reaves to San Jose, acquiring the 24-year-old defenseman Henry Thrun in return from the Sharks.<\/p>\n Reavo now leaves-o; Toronto exchanges Reaves for Thrun<\/p>\n Reaves had just two points in 35 games this season for the Leafs, relegated to the fourth line and often a healthy scratch. Reaves is on the final year of a a three-year deal at $1.5M<\/a> for 2025-26.<\/p>\n While having shown flashes of being a potential top-four defenseman, Thrun has struggled with bouts of inconsistency in his game at both ends of the ice.<\/p>\n The move now leaves Toronto with 13 forwards in its roster, as the team searches for additional help to replace Mitch Marner<\/a> in the Leafs top-six, and sheds some salary to help them in their hunt.<\/p>\n Looking At Ryan Reaves, Henry Thrun, and the Toronto Maple Leafs<\/p>\n The Toronto Maple Leafs get a serviceable young defenseman in Henry Thrun, who despite some questionable efficiency issues is still able to be NHL caliber defenseman.<\/p>\n Thrun may work better in Toronto where he isn’t relied upon as much as he was in San Jose, averaging 17:31 minutes a night with the Sharks and many times topping over 20 minutes in a game.<\/p>\n His game may work better in an environment that has a lesser workload and is called upon to do less than he can, Toronto hoping he was just overworked at a young age.<\/p>\n The Leafs move out salary in getting rid of Reaves, and add a roster spot for a Marner replacement.
