Mukhamadullin spent the next few days being evaluated, Sharks coach Ryan Warsofsky said, to determine the severity of the injury.

Warsofsky would not say what the injury is and could not confirm whether it would require surgery.

“We’re not there yet,” Warsofsky said when asked if surgery was possible for Mukhamadullin, who is expected to fully recover.

After he collided with Ducks Troy Terry in the neutral zone, a play that knocked down the Ducks forward, Mukhamadullin was grabbed by Anaheim winger Frank Vatrano, who dropped his stick, threw his gloves down, grabbed the Sharks blueliner and dragged him to the ice.

Mukhamadullin, not expecting Vatrano to come after him, tried to brace his fall by putting his left arm down before the Ducks forward moved over top of him. Mukhamadullin landed awkwardly, and Vatrano skated away. Mukhamadullin sat up and winced in pain as he reached for his upper body. A team trainer assisted him to the Sharks’ dressing room.

Before the injury, Mukhamadullin had been on the Sharks’ top defense pair, playing with Mario Ferraro and averaging over 20 minutes in ice time per game.

“It’s unfortunate. He was playing some good hockey,” Warsofsky said of Mukhamadullin. “That’s how this game works, there’s injuries that will happen. In every sport, there’s going to be some adversity, and this kid’s going through his adversity at a young age. We’ll be there to support him and get him through this.”

The Sharks, officially eliminated from playoff contention last month, only have five games remaining after Monday’s game against the Calgary Flames at SAP Center. They will play their last game on April 16 at home against the Edmonton Oilers.

Last month, Mukhamadullin and forward Collin Graf were briefly returned to the AHL just before the NHL Trade Deadline, so both would be eligible to play when the Calder Cup playoffs began.

The Barracuda’s final regular-season game is April 20 in Calgary. The Barracuda are on the verge of clinching a spot in the playoffs, which begin shortly afterward.

“It’s a tough bounce for them, for sure,” Warsofsky said of the Barracuda. “But again, this is the game of hockey. No one feels bad for you. So, next man up, and there’ll be some guys that will play some big minutes down the stretch and get a really good opportunity.”

Mukhamadullin’s injury came just as the Sharks experienced injuries to other blueliners, as Vincent Desharnais (upper body) and Jimmy Schuldt (lower body) both went out with injuries after the Sharks’ March 27 game against the New York Rangers.

Jan Rutta (lower body) has not played since Jan. 23, but he and Desharnais have been skating in recent days, and will travel with the Sharks on their upcoming road trip that begins Wednesday against the Minnesota Wild. Schuldt was returned to the Barracuda on Monday afternoon.

TOFFOLI OUT: Leading goal scorer Tyler Toffoli is considered day-to-day with a lower-body injury, Warsofsky said, and will not play in Monday’s game. Toffoli, though, will likely travel with the team to start the road trip.

Warsofsky said Toffoli has been dealing with the injury since the days following the 4 Nations Face Off break in late February. Toffoli has a team-high 28 goals this season and is third on the Sharks with 50 points.

Toffoli had recently played on a line with rookies Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith. Nikolai Kovalenko, a healthy scratch for the last six games, will move into Toffoli’s spot for at least the start of Monday’s game.

“It’s tough. But again, no one feels bad for us,” Warsofsky said of the injury. “Everyone’s going through injuries this time of year.”

Originally Published: April 7, 2025 at 11:33 AM PDT

SAN JOSE – Shakir Mukhamadullin’s upper-body injury will keep him out of the San Jose Sharks’ final six…

[5127
6689,2616,2617,22320,5,2614,1180,22321,22322,4,5192,519,168,5306,5305,2618,1780,2615,2619,43
0":"post-125607","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-san-jose-sharks","8":"tag-afternoon-wire","9":"tag-bay-area","10":"tag-california","11":"tag-coffee-break","12":"tag-hockey","13":"tag-inside-sports","14":"tag-latest-headlines","15":"tag-morning-report-news","16":"tag-morning-wire","17":"tag-nhl","18":"tag-pm-report","19":"tag-san-jose","20":"tag-san-jose-sharks","21":"tag-sanjose","22":"tag-sanjosesharks","23":"tag-santa-clara-county","24":"tag-sharks","25":"tag-sharks-alert","26":"tag-south-bay","27":"tag-sports
["GET
