{"id":133734,"date":"2025-07-21T22:01:10","date_gmt":"2025-07-21T22:01:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/133734\/"},"modified":"2025-07-21T22:01:10","modified_gmt":"2025-07-21T22:01:10","slug":"matthew-tkachuk-gets-married-to-finish-stanley-cup-victory-lap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/133734\/","title":{"rendered":"Matthew Tkachuk gets married to finish Stanley Cup victory lap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Matthew Tkachuk\u2019s Stanley Cup victory lap featured two very special words this year: \u201cI do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The star Panthers forward married fianc\u00e9e Ellie Connell over the weekend, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/FlaPanthersDen\/status\/1947137962287767856\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">according to videos shared on social media<\/a>, roughly one month after <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/17\/sports\/panthers-beat-oilers-in-game-6-to-capture-second-straight-stanley-cup\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">winning the Stanley Cup for the second consecutive season.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The couple swapped vows at a church where Tkachuk, looking dapper in a dark tux, dipped his bride for a kiss as they walked down the aisle.<\/p>\n<p>Florida Panthers star Matthew Tkachuk wed Ellie Connell over the weekend. @FloridaPanthersDen\/X<\/p>\n<p>Connell, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theknot.com\/content\/matthew-tkachuk-relationship\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">who reportedly got engaged<\/a> to the two-time NHL All-Star in 2024, stunned in a strapless gown with a sweetheart neckline.<\/p>\n<p>Once the party got underway at the reception, it was the groom\u2019s father, Hockey Hall of Famer Keith Tkachuk, who stole the spotlight as he was hoisted onto a chair as Chappell Roan\u2019s \u201cPink Pony Club\u201d blared in the background.<\/p>\n<p>The song was famously part of the Oilers\u2019 latest Stanley Cup run, which was thwarted in back-to-back years by the Panthers.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">keith tkachuk being lifted in the air by a bunch of nhlers with brady tkachuk shirtless and pink pony club being blasted is actually exactly what i expected from matthew\u2019s wedding \ud83d\ude2d <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/rgyS2jpb1X\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/rgyS2jpb1X<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 \ud83c\udfc6\ud83c\udfc6 \u2013 ki (@fthinlttlefreak) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/fthinlttlefreak\/status\/1947124207969574949?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">July 21, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The groom\u2019s father, Keith Tkachuk, stole the spotlight at the reception. @evansannie\/Instagram<\/p>\n<p>The groom dipped his bride as they kissed. @SashaBarky\/X<\/p>\n<p>Florida defeated Edmonton in six games this year after going to seven in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve got to be a dynasty now,\u201d Tkachuk said in June. \u201cThree years in a row finals, two championships. NHLI via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Tkachuk was traded to the Panthers before the start of the 2022-23 season after spending the first six years of his NHL career with the Flames.<\/p>\n<p>Though Tkachuk was a factor in this year\u2019s Cup run \u2014 he scored eight goals across 23 playoff appearances \u2014 his postseason availability seemed murky after he sustained a lower-body injury during the 4 Nations Face-Off competition.<\/p>\n<p>The Panthers hoisted the Stanley Cup in back to back years.
