{"id":158247,"date":"2025-08-13T22:11:07","date_gmt":"2025-08-13T22:11:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/158247\/"},"modified":"2025-08-13T22:11:07","modified_gmt":"2025-08-13T22:11:07","slug":"report-arbitrator-rules-in-favor-of-the-flyers-in-ryan-johansen-grievance-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/158247\/","title":{"rendered":"Report: Arbitrator Rules in Favor of the Flyers in Ryan Johansen Grievance Case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It looks like the Flyers will not have to worry about Ryan Johansen any more.<\/p>\n<p>First reported by Darren Dreger, and now confirmed by multiple sources, the Flyers have won the grievance case filed by Johansen last August after his contract was terminated. <\/p>\n<p>Philadelphia acquired the veteran from Colorado along side a 2025 first round pick (used to trade up for Jack Nesbitt in 2025) for Sean Walker and a 2026 5th round pick at the 2024 trade deadline.<\/p>\n<p>The organization terminated the contract the next offseason after Johansen surprised the front office with an injury, despite playing every game for the Avs before being dealt to the Flyers.<\/p>\n<p>Johansen was sent to the AHL by the Flyers, but claimed he could not report or play due to an injury. <\/p>\n<p>The Flyers were able terminate the contract by citing a material breach. <\/p>\n<p>Johansen filed grievance against the Flyers, but lost the case. <\/p>\n<p>While his contract would have been expired by now, the Flyers would have likely been on the hook for his $4 million salary this season or next had he won.
