His 2.73 goals-against average, three shutouts, and .913 save percentage ranked among the league\u2019s best, earning him a spot at the 2025 AHL All-Star Challenge.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"1389\" data-start=\"1176\">Before turning pro, Garand spent five years with the Kamloops Blazers of the Western Hockey League (WHL), where he was named CHL Goaltender of the Year in 2021-22.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"1727\" data-start=\"1391\">Garand has also represented Canada on multiple occasions.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"1727\" data-start=\"1391\">He backstopped the country to a gold medal at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship and most recently, was part of Canada\u2019s roster at the 2025 World Championship, recording a shutout win over Slovenia in their tournament opener.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"2069\" data-start=\"1729\">Looking ahead to the 2025-26 season, Garand is expected to take on the starting role in Hartford, and be a potential call-up for the\u00a0Rangers if Igor Shesterkin or Jonathan Quick are unavailable.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"2069\" data-start=\"1729\">He\u2019ll also have some familiar competition nearby, with former Port Alberni Bulldog Callum Tung in the mix for the backup role in Hartford.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"2263\" data-start=\"2071\">Garand\u2019s contract carries an NHL cap hit of $775,000, with a minor-league salary of $100,000 and a guaranteed salary of $125,000.
