He said before he wants to play with his brothers. That would be partly out of our control. In our control if we brought his brothers here.” Rutherford said.

NHL insider reveals how New Jersey Devils could eventually land defenseman Quinn Hughes

During a recent appearance on The Shaun Starr Show, NHL insider Marco D’Amico spoke about those rumors this summer linking Quinn Hughes to the New Jersey Devils to join his brothers Jack and Luke.

According to D’Amico, if the New Jersey Devils truly want to pursue Quinn Hughes, either via trade in the next couple of seasons or as a free agent on Canada Day 2027, then they’ll need to ensure that both of his brothers are around for the long haul.

As things stand right now, Jack is under contract through the 2029-30 season with a cap hit of $8 million USD, while Luke Hughes is currently a restricted free agent and it’s unclear if the club and his camp are going to work on a bridge deal or something more long-term.

“If the plan is eventually to try and lure him out of there, well, you know, you’re going to have to have both brothers signed,” D’Amico explained.

While the Vancouver Canucks don’t have to worry too much right now about the potential of Quinn Hughes leaving, there’s no doubt that it’s at the back of the mind of every single member of the team’s management staff.

Fortunately for the Canucks, they still have a strong possibility of getting Quinn Hughes locked up to a long-term extension, which he is eligible to sign as of July 1st, 2026 and can put pen-to-paper on an eight-year deal up until the new CBA kicks in on September 15th, 2026, which is when that contract length will become extinct.

For now, the Vancouver Canucks are looking forward to the 2025-26 season and hopefully making a deep run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs led by their captain, Quinn Hughes.

Previously on CanucksDaily

Photo credit: NHL An NHL insider has revealed what needs to happen for the New Jersey Devils to…

[5128
894,5,151,4,1496,26565,22628,893,27,5692,28669,5313
0":"post-165567","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-vancouver-canucks","8":"tag-canucks","9":"tag-hockey","10":"tag-new-jersey-devils","11":"tag-nhl","12":"tag-quinn-hughes","13":"tag-quinn-hughes-canucks","14":"tag-quinn-hughes-rumors","15":"tag-vancouver","16":"tag-vancouver-canucks","17":"tag-vancouver-canucks-news","18":"tag-vancouver-cauncks","19":"tag-vancouvercanucks
["GET
