Pittsburgh Penguins general manager Kyle Dubas’ future has come into focus amid a potential sale reportedly taking place between current owners Fenway Sports Group and the Hoffman family. However, according to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the GM is going nowhere.<\/p>\n

During his appearance on the 32 Thoughts podcast, Friedman said the potential change in ownership won’t affect Dubas’ future with the franchise.<\/p>\n

“I had some people ask me about Kyle Dubas,” Friedman said<\/a>. “I don’t think this will affect Dubas at all. I think he’s going to stay on in his current roles.”<\/p>\n

Friedman added that even apart from Dubas, the overall direction of the team is not likely to change despite what happens in the top management.<\/p>\n

“From what I’m hearing, someone asked me, Do you think it’ll change the direction of the team?” Friedman said. “And there’s nothing I’ve heard in the days since this first came out that convinces me that their plan is changing.”<\/p>\n

Kyle Dubas is bringing youth to Pittsburgh<\/p>\n

Kyle Dubas’ recent offseason activity suggests building a contender in Pittsburgh while also safeguarding the future. The GM is infusing youth\u00a0to surround Pittsburgh\u2019s legendary veterans, including Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang and Erik Karlsson.<\/p>\n

Jesse Puljujarvi, Cody Glass, Jack St. Ivany and top prospect Rutger McGroarty represent this youth wave. At the 2025 NHL draft, Pittsburgh picked\u00a0three first-round picks, selecting Benjamin Kindel, Bill Zonnon and Will Horcoff.<\/p>\n
