The Vancouver Canucks continue to be linked to an RFA centerman, who is a former top-three pick, with training camp set to begin in less than three weeks.<\/p>\n
After a long summer, the Vancouver Canucks are gearing up for the start of training camp and appear ready to begin the 2025-26 campaign<\/a> with how their roster stands now after striking out on several occasions this offseason in their search for some help down the middle.Vancouver’s pursuit of a second line centerman will continue though and while there’s a good chance Patrik Allvin and the team’s management staff might not be able to land someone until possibly late-November, there is one name that they continue to be linked to<\/a>.<\/p>\n Former third overall pick continues to be linked to the Vancouver Canucks<\/p>\n In late July, Patrick Johnston of The Province was the first to report<\/a> on Vancouver’s interest in Anaheim Ducks restricted free agent forward Mason McTavish<\/a> amid an impasse in contract talks.<\/p>\n “Hence their continued interest in Roslovic, as well as their interest in Mason McTavish, the Anaheim Ducks’ restricted free agent. Of course adding McTavish, the third-overall pick in the 2021 draft, will be very hard: he’s a highly-regarded player with huge upside and will cost a big price in trade, perhaps more than the Canucks can afford.” Johnston said.<\/p>\n Flash forward six weeks and the Vancouver Canucks still need a second line centerman, while Mason McTavish remains unsigned and even though the asking price the reported asking price is quite high<\/a>, it appears that Patrik Allvin & Co. still have interest in the 22-year-old.In a recent article for Sports Illustrated, Jacob Punturi believes that the Vancouver Canucks are the team to watch in the Western Conference when it comes to Mason McTavish, adding that it would be a good fit for both player and club, slotting easily into that 2C hole behind Elias Pettersson<\/a>.<\/p>\n “I foresee McTavish heading to the Eastern Conference in a potential trade, but the Canucks are the team in the West to watch.
