Winnipeg Bolsters its Forward Depth<\/p>\n

On the season, Tanev has nine goals and eight assists for 17 points, along with 91 blocks and 122 hits, while playing just under 14 minutes per game. He is a viable addition to the roster, as he can play multiple roles for the team. Being able to play on both sides of the wing while being a prolific penalty-killer, he might not bring the level of production he once showed earlier in his career, but you know what you\u2019re getting when you acquire him: a hard-working and physical bottom-six player who gets down and dirty to win the game.<\/p>\n

This trade will see Tanev rejoin the Jets with whom he first played from 2015-16 to 2018-19, where he played 195 games, scoring 24 goals and 27 assists for 51 points. The Jets are absorbing his entire cap hit of $3.5 million. The 33-year-old is considered one of the best examples of an undrafted player carving out a solid NHL career.<\/p>\n

Seattle continues to sell this trade deadline as they reevaluate their future and manage their pending free agents. They already did a bang-on job trading Yanni Gourde and Oliver Bjorkstrand to the Tampa Bay Lightning for a massive haul, and now they get a great return on another pending unrestricted free agent. Along with acquiring Kaapo Kakko in December, the Kraken have ultimately decided to help build toward their future by adding a young player, two first-round picks, and two second-round picks to use in the draft or for future trades.<\/p>\n
