\t\t\t\t\tThe Olympic future of Montreal Canadiens defenseman Lane Hutson<\/a>, who won the Calder Trophy, has been made clear after controversial comments from his father.For reasons that continue to be hotly debated, Calder Trophy-winning defenseman Lane Hutson of the Montreal Canadiens was not included<\/a> among the 44 names invited to the US Olympic Orientation Camp.The defensemen who were invited included Brock Faber<\/a>, Ryan McDonagh<\/a>, Brady Skjei<\/a>, Adam Fox<\/a>, Seth Jones<\/a>, Brett Pesce<\/a>, Jaccob Slavin<\/a>, Noah Hanifin<\/a>, Jackson LaCombe, Neal Pionk<\/a>, Alex Vlasic<\/a>, Luke Hughes<\/a>, Charlie McAvoy<\/a>, Jake Sanderson<\/a>, and Zach Werenski.<\/p>\n

Why Hutson’s Father’s Canadian Citizenship Comment Went Viral<\/p>\n

Hutson’s father drew controversy when he said that he could play for Canada in the Olympics after not being invited to the US Orientation camp.<\/p>\n

Even though his father is from Manitoba, Lane Hutson won’t be able to play for Canada in the Olympics.<\/p>\n

It’s easy to take a 60-minute interview and turn it into a 15-second clip for clicks. There is no animosity there from Lane or his father; with both confirming this on record.<\/p>\n

From Calder Winner to Olympic Hopeful: Hutson’s Next Chapter<\/p>\n

Hutson will be open to playing in the Olympics in a future date.<\/p>\n

There are some great players who play for USA Hockey and great NHL players going to that. I wish them the best and hopefully they enjoy the camp. For me, I’ve got a season to get ready for and I look forward to it. . I’d love to play [at the Olympics] but you never know what could happen and it’s a long season. So if the opportunity presents itself, it’s definitely something I’d love to do.<\/p>\n

Hutson became the 1st Canadiens player to win the Calder Trophy since Ken Dryden did so in 1972.<\/p>\n
