Get ready for the Chicago Blackhawks\u2019 second preseason game against the St. Louis Blues. Will they bounce back from their last loss?<\/p>\n

The Chicago Blackhawks play the St. Louis Blues in their second preseason game. Puck drop is at 6 pm CT.<\/p>\n

Are you ready? The last preseason game created a lot of worry. A 3-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings<\/a> was filled with defensive zone errors and an inability to complete passes on the breakout. It\u2019s only preseason, and the Blachawks roster wasn\u2019t their regular season one either. <\/p>\n

Add in fatigue, young players, and a first game back from summer, and what you\u2019re left with are excuses.<\/p>\n

Chicago Blackhawks at St. Louis Blues Preview<\/p>\n

Remember how in the last game I said not to panic if the Blackhawks looked bad? Well, they did, and there was a legit reason for mild concern (emphasis on mild). Tonight, things could go poorly, and it would be foolish to have a strong reaction to a bad loss.<\/p>\n

Connor Bedard and Frank Nazar are both out. The Blackhawks are icing a roster with fringe players against the St. Louis Blues\u2019 roster, which is closer to what their NHL roster could look like. So let\u2019s keep that in mind when the Hawks lay an egg on the ice out there.<\/p>\n

Ryan Greene centers the first line with Oliver Moore on his wing. I\u2019ll be watching for Moore\u2019s finishing ability. Can he be more than just fast? Will Moore get into dangerous areas of the ice and at least create scoring chances? Can he make smart reads and execute smart passes?<\/p>\n

Nick Lardis and Lukas Reichel both flank\u2014checks notes\u2014Jackson Cates, a forward from the Rockford IceHogs. Cates last played an NHL game in 2022. But that\u2019s not the point. I\u2019ll be looking for Lardis scoring and Reichel displaying something resembling good offense. With this Cates fella driving the line, I wonder how difficult it will be for Reichel and Lardis to create. Or will it not matter?<\/p>\n

Finally, there are Kevin Korchinski and Ethan Del Mastro. Both had rough games in the Blackhawks\u2019 first preseason game. I\u2019ll be looking for cleaned-up passing from Korchinski in the defensive zone and an overall better game from Del Mastro.<\/p>\n
