QU\u00c9BEC \u2014 Patrik Laine and Alexandre Carrier scored second-period goals two minutes and 41 seconds apart to lift the Montreal Canadiens to a 5-0 NHL pre-season victory over the Ottawa Senators at the Videotron Centre on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n
Oliver Kapanen, Lane Hutson and Kirby Dach also scored for the Canadiens, who led 1-0 after the first period and 3-0 heading into the third. Brendan Gallagher chipped in with three assists, while Alex Newhook and Ivan Demidov added two helpers apiece.<\/p>\n

Jakub Dobes made 16 saves to post the shutout for the Canadiens, who went 3-for-10 on the power play. The Senators, who took 102 minutes in penalties, went 0-for-2 with the man advantage.<\/p>\n
Leevi Merilainen stopped 18 of the 23 shots directed at the Senators’ net.<\/p>\n

SAINT PAUL, Minn. \u2014 Marcus Foligno’s short-handed goal at 14:29 of the second period snapped a 2-2 deadlock and lifted the Minnesota Wild to a 3-2 win over the visiting Winnipeg Jets at Grand Casino Arena.<\/p>\n

Matt Boldy and Kirill Kaprizov (power play) also scored for the Wild, who were tied 1-1 after the first period and took a 3-2 lead into the third.<\/p>\n
Cole Koepke and Vladislav Namestnikov scored for the Jets.<\/p>\n
Earlier in the day the Wild signed Kaprizov to the richest contract in NHL history at US$136 million over eight years. It will kick in after this season.<\/p>\n
Wild netminder Jesper Wallstedt stopped 26 of 28 shot to post the victory. Connor Hellebuyck stopped 16 of 19 shots in the Jets’ net.<\/p>\n
The Wild went 1-for-2 on the power play, while the Jets were 0-for-4.<\/p>\n
