It\u2019s likely going to be a big day for waiver claims around the NHL as rosters are due later this afternoon. The Avs have two defensemen on waivers, a goalie was taken away from Florida on waivers, and several others might be claimed today. Also, the Red Wings youth movement is very much real.<\/p>\n

The waiver wire is going to be quite fun to follow later today. We\u2019ll know around noon if two Avs defensemen and several other players around the league will be on the move.<\/p>\n

Detroit Hockey Now:\u00a0The Red Wings youth movement is alive and well. Both Justin Holl and Erik Gustafsson were placed on waivers on Sunday. This opens a potential opening night roster spot for not one, or two, but THREE rookies.<\/a><\/p>\n

Florida Hockey Now:\u00a0The Panthers tried to sneak their third-string goalie through waivers a day before the waiver wire storm. But they failed<\/a>, as Carolina\u00a0got their hands on him.<\/p>\n

Boston Hockey Now:\u00a0The Bruins placed, who is likely the most notable goalie on waivers. Will he get claimed?<\/a><\/p>\n

New Jersey Hockey Now:\u00a0The Devils might also lose a goalie<\/a> on waivers today. Someone they hope can sneak through.<\/p>\n

Philadelphia Hockey Now:\u00a0The Flyers cleared themselves of using LTIR by trading Ryan Ellis\u2019 contract<\/a> to the San Jose Sharks.<\/p>\n

Chicago Hockey Now:\u00a0Remember how it was reported a few weeks ago that Matt Gryzelcyk rejected a one year, $1 million offer from a Western Conference team? I still kind of feel like Colorado was that team. Anyway, he\u2019s finally under contract, and he had to take that same money and term<\/a> with the Blackhawks.<\/p>\n
