\t\t\t\t\tVancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvn gave an unfortunate injury update to reporters on Tuesday afternoon regarding Latvian forward Teddy Blueger<\/a>.As the Vancouver Canucks gear up for the start of the 2025-26 season, which is just two days away, the organization is dealing with some injury issues with a couple of players that were named to their opening night roster<\/a> on Monday.<\/p>\n

Patrik Allvin gives unfortunate injury update on Vancouver Canucks’ Teddy Blueger<\/p>\n

When meeting with reporters on Tuesday, Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin announced that forward Teddy Blueger will be out for about another week after sustaining an injury during their preseason finale last Friday<\/a> against the Edmonton Oilers.<\/p>\n

“Patrik Allvin says he expects Teddy Blueger to be out around another week after being hurt in the pre-season finale vs. Edmonton. PO Joseph has been ruled out for the opener on Thursday, and that’s why he was placed on retroactive IR.” Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet 650 said on X.<\/p>\n

One area that the Vancouver Canucks will really miss Teddy Blueger in their first three-to-five games of the 2025-26 season is on the penalty kill, as Canucks Army’s Jeff Paterson pointed out today that the 31-year-old took a team-high 250 face-offs on the PK.<\/p>\n

“how much did #Canucks lean on Teddy Blueger on PK last season? He took 250 shorthanded face-offs. Pius Suter<\/a> was next on the team with 52, then JT Miller with 51 and EP40 was 19. Blueger took 250. The rest of the team combined took 161.” Paterson said.
Blueger, a native of Riga, Latvia, found himself in trade rumors all summer long as the club looked for an upgrade down the middle, before Patrik Allvin pulled him off the trade block<\/a> a couple of weeks before training camp began.<\/p>\n

In 82 games during his second season as a Vancouver Canuck, Blueger registered 26 points (eight goals, 18 assists), 39 penalty minutes and was a minus-17.<\/p>\n

Vancouver will open up the 2025-26 season at Rogers Arena on Thursday night as they host their Western Canadian rivals, the Calgary Flames.<\/p>\n
