A scary scene took place last night in Anaheim where the Pittsburgh Penguins were facing the Ducks. During the second intermission, Penguins television play-by-play man Josh Getzoff fainted in the Honda Center press box and had to be taken to the local hospital. <\/p>\n
Team insider John Yohe had posted right after the incident: <\/p>\n
\u201cNot sure when it happened, but Pens play by play man Josh Getzoff just passed out. He was walking around a moment ago. Being taken away in a wheelchair. Hopefully just precautionary. He was conscious and seemed OK.\u201d<\/p>\n
It has since been reported that Getzoff left the SportsNet Pittsburgh broadcast booth between periods, which is common, and he was in the middle of a conversation with another broadcaster when he passed out. <\/p>\n
He was then placed in a wheelchair and was later taken to a hospital as a precaution. The Penguins did not issue a statement on his status, but a team source said Getzoff reported that he was OK.<\/p>\n
Phil Bourque, Getzoff\u2019s colleague, shared on the air during the third period that he heard Getzoff was alright.<\/p>\n
Getzoff, a Pennsylvania native, recently celebrated his 10-year anniversary as a broadcaster for the Penguins. This is his third season as the TV play-by-play man for SportsNet Pittsburgh. Prior to that, Getzoff called the Penguins\u2019 games on the radio.<\/p>\n
However on Tuesday, he did not get to call the third period of the Pens\u2019 4-3 loss at the hands of the Ducks. <\/p>\n
