The New York Rangers haven\u2019t scored a goal<\/a> on home ice yet this season. That kind of stat will bring with it speculation about roster changes. <\/p>\n

According to Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman, the Rangers could be a team to watch over the next couple of weeks and months. First, he\u2019s reporting<\/a> that Brennan Othmann might be an early trade candidate. Second, he\u2019s wondering what the future holds for Artemi Panarin. <\/p>\n

When it comes to Othmann, Friedman writes: <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s early and most teams try to wait until making moves, but there is at least one name gaining traction out there. That\u2019s\u00a0New York Rangers\u00a0prospect\u00a0Brennan Othmann. Othmann was sent down to AHL Hartford after failing to make the NHL team, and, since that occurred, there\u2019s been conversations with other clubs about his future.\u201d<\/p>\n

Friedman adds that the Rangers have a surplus of wingers and might be open to giving Othmann a fresh start. <\/p>\n

Friedman also reports that Panarin has turned down a contract extension offer from the Rangers. While a guest on\u00a0The FAN Hockey Show<\/a>\u00a0(Oct. 15), the NHL insider noted that the Rangers \u201cwent to him and said, would you be willing to take a Kopitar kind of deal, and the answer was no.\u201d He then suggested Panarin\u2019s camp might be \u201cswinging\u201d for a home run contract. <\/p>\n

Carter Hart Set to Sign in Vegas<\/p>\n

Carter Hart\u00a0is reportedly joining the Vegas Golden Knights<\/a> on a two-year deal, according to multiple NHL insiders. Elite Prospects\u2019\u00a0Cam Robinson reported<\/a>\u00a0that Hart is signing for around $1.8 million per season, which is about double the NHL\u2019s league minimum. Elliotte Friedman called the move \u201cvery real\u201d and suggested it could be finalized imminently.<\/p>\n

Hart was eligible to sign as of yesterday and Vegas might be waiting for a day or two before announcing the deal, aware that it might come with some blowback from fans. <\/p>\n

Friedman also reported an update on\u00a0another former NHL player involved in the Hockey Canada trial, Alex Formenton<\/a>. He reported on the FAN Hockey Show, \u201cI do think there\u2019s some interest, I just don\u2019t know if it\u2019s gonna happen as quickly, but I do think there\u2019s been some teams that have talked about the possibility.\u201d<\/p>\n
