\nEdmonton Oilers linked to major goalie trade with Nashville Predators <\/p>\n

Tyler Yamermchuk of Oilers Nation and Jeff Marek of The Sheet recently discussed Nashville’s situation, and how the Oilers might want to keep an eye on goalie Jusse Saros.<\/p>\n
Analyst thinks Edmonton good landing spot for starting goalie<\/p>\n
Nashville might be a team who sells.<\/p>\n
Jeff Marek: You can’t ask a player to go through two rebuilds. And if this is the way Nashville is going to go, I would expect that Barry Trotz would have that conversation with Juuse Saros<\/a>. Like, ‘Look, this is the direction we’re gonna go, we tried and it didn’t work. We need to go in a different direction.<\/p>\n Saros is currently under contract for $7.74M, and is still in year 1 of an 8-year deal. It could be a sizeable cap hit for Edmonton, but at this point their choices are limited and should look at spending money, given their goalie woes.<\/p>\n Saros, 30, has had a strong career with 421 games played, a 2.69 goals against average, and a .914 save percentage.<\/p>\n “If I’m the Edmonton, and don’t even worry about the contract,” Jeff Marek continued. “Like you’re not in a place right now we got to worry about like oh what’s that going to look like, no don’t even consider that whatsoever, you just need to think about game and the next you know and then the next round of playoffs if you’re the Edmonton.\u00bb<\/p>\n Edmonton has been linked to several goalies of late and is not ruling anything out. They’re in a must-win year and don’t have the luxury of time. Stan Bowman should have a number of irons in the fire.<\/p>\n If the general manager is serious about winning, like McDavid has repeatedly said since the offseason, then he must pull the trigger on a trade for a number-1 goalie. There really is no other discussion to be had.<\/p>\n A record of 6-5-4 is not good enough for this team.
