In this edition of The Detroit News’ OctoPulse podcast, Ted Kulfan takes a look at the Quinn Hughes trade and Todd McLellan’s first full year as coach of the Red Wings.<\/p>\n

The podcast guest is Phil Osaer<\/a>, the former head of goaltending scouting and development with the Detroit Red Wings. The 45-year-old Livonia native is now the general manager of Honeybaked Hockey.<\/p>\n

Honeybaked’s U15 team has a 40-7 record with a 27-game winning streak, outscoring the opposition 154-40. The U15s feature six defensemen at least 6 feet tall and are bigger than the Red Wings’ defensive corps with 6-foot-6 Simon Edvinsson and 6-3 Moritz Seider.<\/p>\n

Honeybaked’s 6-4 defensemen are New Hudson’s Jake LaMontagne, Ann Arbor’s Liam Weaver and Russia’s Ivan Belikov. Captain Max Lappan from Livonia is 6-2 and leads the team’s defensemen in scoring with 71 points in 48 games.<\/p>\n
