Carolina Hurricanes<\/a> goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov<\/a> will have surgery to address a lower-body injury he has been managing and will likely be out for the season. <\/p>\n

Head coach Rod Brind\u2019Amour made the announcement Monday evening before Carolina\u2019s game against the New York Rangers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe didn\u2019t feel right all year. He\u2019s been playing great; that\u2019s the hard part. He was kind of fighting through it, but doesn\u2019t want to continue that way, so we\u2019ll get it fixed and go from there\u201a” Brind\u2019Amour said via team reporter Walt Ruff. <\/p>\n

The 26-year-old netminder has played nine games so far this season, recording an .899 save percentage and 2.33 goals-against average.<\/p>\n

He last played on Dec. 20 against the Tampa Bay Lightning<\/a> when he allowed five goals on 28 shots in a 6-4 defeat.<\/p>\n

Kochetkov has spent his entire five-year NHL career with the Hurricanes since being selected in the second round of the 2019 NHL Draft.<\/p>\n
