San Jose Sharks star Macklin Celebrini\u00a0achieved a childhood dream on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The San Jose Sharks forward received the call from Doug Armstrong informing him that he would be representing\u00a0Team Canada at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026\u00a0in February. The 19-year-old will be the third teenager to play for Canada<\/a> at a best-on-best tournament, but the first to do so at the Olympics.<\/p>\n \u201cI found out this morning,\u201d Celebrini said following\u00a0the Sharks\u2019 4-3 shootout win\u00a0against the Minnesota Wild at SAP Center. \u201cI can\u2019t really put it into words. I was so excited. It was tough to refocus into the game, especially with the early [start]. It\u2019s just excitement.\u201d<\/p>\n Celebrini told reporters that the call with Armstrong, who is Canada\u2019s general manager, was quick. After the news was delivered to him, the center immediately told his parents.<\/p>\n \u201cThey did so much for me growing up. They\u2019re the reason I\u2019m here, all their love and support,\u201d Celebrini said. \u201cRepresenting Canada at any level, that\u2019s just a huge honor.
