former members of the Vancouver Canucks organization<\/a> are enjoying plenty of success, including captain Quinn Hughes, who has seven points in nine games with the Minnesota Wild, who acquired him back in the middle of December.<\/p>\nHowever for some, both here in North America and across Europe, it’s been a tough season thus far, especially for someone like Daniel Sprong who currently leads CSKA Moscow in points, but has been a healthy scratch for the last 11 games.<\/p>\n
Unfortunately for another former Vancouver Canuck, who was hoping to get another crack in the National Hockey League down the line, he’s now looking for a new home after being released from his PTO.<\/p>\n
Former Vancouver Canucks forward released from PTO, becomes free agent<\/p>\n
“The Charlotte Checkers have signed forward Tyler Motte to a professional tryout (PTO).” the club said in mid-October.<\/p>\n
Motte, who has 455 games of National Hockey League experience under his belt, hadn’t played in the American Hockey League since the 2017-18 season when he suited up for Vancouver’s affiliate at the time, the Utica Comets, but in order to remain in North America, he was willing to take whatever options were thrown his way.<\/p>\n
The St. Clair, Michigan native appeared in four games during his professional tryout with the Charlotte Checkers, registering one goal, two penalty minutes and was a minus-two.<\/p>\n
It’s unclear what comes next for Tyler Motte, whether he’ll receive another opportunity in the American Hockey League or if he’ll have to head overseas to Europe for the first time in his professional hockey career, but with the experience he has, there’s no doubt someone will have interest in the former Vancouver Canuck.<\/p>\n
