The San Jose Sharks<\/a>‘ second-year player continues to be an absolute rising superstar, and along the way, he’s joining all kinds of exclusive NHL history lists.<\/p>\n

The latest is one in which Celebrini is on pace to shatter a record currently held by Wayne Gretzky.<\/p>\n

This stat: Percentage of team goals that a player factors in on as a teenager in a season.<\/p>\n

That means you take the total team goals, then figure out what percentage were either scored or assisted by a given player.<\/p>\n

Sidney Crosby currently ranks second in NHL history in this stat, at 44.9% in the 2006-07 season.<\/p>\n

Gretzky holds the record, at 45.5% in the 1979-80 season.<\/p>\n

Celebrini is currently at 50.8% for the season.<\/p>\n

Maybe that says something negative about the Sharks.<\/p>\n

It also says something immensely positive about the brilliance of Celebrini.<\/p>\n

Through 40 games now, Celebrini has 62 points. That’s 22 goals and 40 assists.<\/p>\n

He isn’t slowing down. He had a goal and an assist in the Sharks’ most recent game, a shootout win over the Wild.<\/p>\n

They’re back in action Saturday against the Lightning. Celebrini very likely will score again.<\/p>\n
