I mean, anytime you miss a game, it’s, yeah, it’s embarrassing. I’d be wrong if I wasn’t saying I’d be pissed off right now, but I understand. And I need a jolt too, I obviously haven’t been good enough. Anytime that you’re in this position, it’s lots of things. So, you know, I gotta control what I can do from this point forward and just worry about me. I think there’s a lot of different things. The good thing about this situation, in my previous times being scratched, you have a clean slate. So I care less about what has happened.” DeBrusk said.

Just a few days later, as the Canucks hosted the Kraken, Jake DeBrusk had a solid performance, putting up three points in a 4-3 shootout loss and as we inch closer to the trade deadline, with Vancouver’s hybrid retool plans at the back of mind, if he’s able to play like that, we could see teams around the league show interest in him.

During Monday’s edition of The Jason Gregor Show on Sports 1440, he mentions that one name that could be a potential target for the Edmonton Oilers leading up to the trade deadline is Vancouver Canucks forward Jake DeBrusk.

“One name Spec, now this would be a significant deal, the name that I’ve heard out there a bit and you know, teams are talk and just because you talk doesn’t mean anything occurs, but Jake DeBrusk in Vancouver. It hasn’t worked out there for him. Now it kind of looks like they’re going into a rebuild, I don’t think that’s what he signed up for and he does have a say in where he goes, not a complete say, but he does have a no-movement clause. I don’t know if he would waive it to come to Edmonton…but either way, you know you look at that and I just wonder here. I think Stan Bowman has a lot of balls up in the air looking to try to improve his team.” Jason Gregor said.

DeBrusk, who’s from Edmonton, Alberta, would be a good fit for the Oilers, who are in win-now mode after back-to-back appearances in the Stanley Cup Final, but GM Stan Bowman would need to find a way to move money out to accommodate the Canucks forward’s $5.5 million annual salary through the 2030-31 season.

Previously on Vancouver Hockey Daily

POLL

12 MINUTES AGO | 15 ANSWERS

Vancouver Canucks’ biggest rival named as likely landing spot for Jake DeBrusk as trade rumours grow

Do you think the Edmonton Oilers could be a legit landing spot for Jake DeBrusk?

Photo credit: Bob Frid – Imagn Images.
