William Eklund scored the game-winning goal in overtime as the San Jose Sharks won 4-3 on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Macklin Celebrini got his third point of the night as he fed Eklund on a two-on-one for the winning goal in the extra period. Celebrini extended his point streak to 12 during the game.<\/p>\n
Tyler Toffoli<\/a> and Adam Gaudette scored for the Sharks, who have won five of their past six games. Yaroslav Askarov made 23 saves, and\u00a0Alexander Wennberg<\/a>\u00a0stayed hot with two assists for the 400th and 401st points of his NHL career.<\/p>\n Kevin Fiala had a goal and an assist for the Kings. Both teams came into the game tied with 45 points and occupied the wild-card spots in the Western Conference. Alex Laferriere and Alex Turcotte also scored for LA, and Darcy Kuemper made 24 saves.<\/p>\n Celebrini\u2019s point streak now at 12 games ties\u00a0Jonathan Cheechoo\u00a0(12 in 2005-06) and\u00a0Rob Gaudreau\u00a0(12 in 1992-93) for the\u00a0third-longest point streak in Sharks history<\/a>. He trails\u00a0Erik Karlsson<\/a>\u00a0(14 in 2022-23) and\u00a0Mikael Granlund<\/a>\u00a0(13 in 2023-24).<\/p>\n The Sharks scored two power-play goals, which is encouraging given their lengthy struggles throughout parts of the season.<\/p>\n Toffoli put the Sharks up 1-0 with a power play goal at 4:10 of the second period. Celebrini took a shot from the point, and Alex<\/a>ander Wennberg<\/a> gave Toffoli a no-look, through-the-legs pass for the open goal.<\/p>\n Turcotte tied the game 1-1 at 11:34. Kevin Fiala\u2019s shot from the middle rebounded to the right of Askarov, and Turcotte wrapped the puck into the open net.<\/p>\n Gaudette put the Sharks back ahead 2-1 with a power play goal at 5:38 of the third period. Timothy Liljegren<\/a> blasted a one-timer from the point that Gaudette deflected by the blocker of Kuemper.<\/p>\n Fiala quickly tied the game 2-2 1:04 later after a puck bounced hard off the backboards in front of the net.<\/p>\n Laferriere tipped in Joel Edmundson\u2019s blast from the point at 17:50 to give the Kings a 3-2 lead.<\/p>\n Celebrini tied the game 3-3 with 67 seconds left in the third period.
