{"id":400643,"date":"2026-01-11T01:33:21","date_gmt":"2026-01-11T01:33:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/400643\/"},"modified":"2026-01-11T01:33:21","modified_gmt":"2026-01-11T01:33:21","slug":"nhl-prepares-climate-controlled-rink-for-2026-stadium-series-in-tampa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/400643\/","title":{"rendered":"NHL prepares climate-controlled rink for 2026 Stadium Series in Tampa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TAMPA, Fla. \u2014 The National Hockey League (NHL) is <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=_O_8K1fslAI\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">upgrading its outdoor game experience<\/a> for the 2026 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series, featuring the Tampa Bay Lightning and Boston Bruins on Feb. 1 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.<\/p>\n<p>In episode two of the Road to the NHL Stadium Series, presented by Fastenal docuseries, the League revealed plans to construct a regulation-size ice rink inside a massive climate-controlled tent \u2014 a first for its outdoor games.<\/p>\n<p>The steel-framed, air-conditioned structure, built by GNB Global, measures 34 feet high, 125 feet wide and 240 feet long. It will protect the ice from Florida\u2019s sun, humidity and rain.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat we\u2019re building in Tampa is one of the most ambitious event structures we\u2019ve ever taken on,\u201d said Steve Mayer, NHL president, content &amp; events. \u201cThe conditions are challenging, the timeline is tight, and every detail matters \u2014 but that\u2019s what makes it special.
