The Chicago Blackhawks (19-19-7) begin a four-game homestand on Monday night when they face off with the Edmonton Oilers (22-18-7) at the United Center.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s the second of three meetings between the two teams in the 2025-26 season, with Edmonton winning the first matchup 3-2 in overtime at Rogers Arena on Nov. 1. Evan Bouchard recorded the overtime winner and had two points. Leon Draisaitl (PP) and Jack Roslovic (PP) scored the two Oilers\u2019 goals in regulation. Connor McDavid had three assists. Tyler Bertuzzi (PP) and Andre Burakovsky were the goal scorers for the Blackhawks.<\/p>\n
Last time out, the Blackhawks moved to 5-1-0 in the New Year despite being without their top two goaltenders. Both Spencer Knight and Arvid Soderblom were out due to illness, but AHL-starter Drew Commesso impressively stepped in and stopped all 36 shots for his first NHL shutout. Bertuzzi (PP), Nick Lardis, and Ryan Greene (EN) scored in a 3-0 win over the Nashville Predators.<\/p>\n
The Oilers are coming off a 4-3 shootout loss to the Los Angeles Kings in their last time out on Saturday. McDavid extended his point streak to 18 games with his 30th goal of the season, while Leon Draisaitl also scored twice. Adrian Kempe recorded the shootout winner for the Kings.<\/p>\n
Edmonton is 2-1-1 to begin the New Year and currently sits in second place in the Pacific Division standings with 51 points through 45 games. The Oilers have a two-point cushion on the third-place San Jose Sharks and are three points clear of the final wildcard playoff spot in a tight Western Conference.<\/p>\n

Blackhawks Regular Season Notes (Last Five Games)<\/p>\n
Captain Nick Foligno comes up clutch with the first shootout goal of his NHL career to give the Blackhawks<\/a> a 3-2 win in the Nation\u2019s Capital. Teuvo Teravainen and Ryan Donato also scored in the victory against the Washington Capitals, while Spencer Knight stopped 32 of 34 shots.<\/p>\n It was the Tyler Bertuzzi Show<\/a> on Sunday, as he carried the Blackhawks to their third consecutive win with a hat trick. Bertuzzi scored all three goals, including the overtime winner, to overcome a late deficit and beat the Vegas Golden Knights 3-2.<\/p>\n What a complete team win! Seven different players scored a goal, and 13 recorded a point in a 7-3 beatdown over the St. Louis Blues<\/a>. Both special teams units were also spectacular as the Blackhawks\u2019 winning streak reached four games.<\/p>\n Connor Bedard was back, but the Blackhawks were still stretched remarkably thin against the Washington Capitals. An illness\/flu bug swept through the locker room, leaving several players unavailable.
