The Calgary Flames<\/a> have placed forward Blake Coleman<\/a> on injured reserve, the team announced Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Coleman, 34, was injured in Thursday\u2019s 4-1 loss to the Boston Bruins<\/a> after getting tangled up with Mason Lohrei<\/a> in the late stages of the first period.<\/p>\n

Following the interaction, Coleman took one shift before heading back to the locker room. He would return later in the frame, skating just six more shifts before leaving the game for good in the third period. He logged just 9:55 of ice time against Boston.<\/p>\n

The Plano, Tex. native sat out Saturday\u2019s 2-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins<\/a>, and now heads to the IR with trade rumours swirling surrounding the 10-year veteran.<\/p>\n

TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun reported last week on Early Trading that Coleman\u2019s services are \u201cof interest\u201d to the Montreal Canadiens<\/a>, among other teams.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is my understanding that Blake Coleman<\/a>is high on [Montreal\u2019s] list. Now there\u2019s other players on their trade list, every playoff contender draws up a list at this time of year. But Blake Coleman<\/a> is a player of interest.<\/p>\n

\u201c…But of course, as I\u2019ve mentioned before, he\u2019s of interest to a lot of teams. He\u2019s the player that Calgary gets the most calls on and have since the start of the season. There is no guarantee Calgary trades him. He\u2019s beloved in that dressing room, he\u2019s a leader. We\u2019re not even sure if Calgary\u2019s ready to move him before the March 6 trade deadline. But if they are, I do expect Montreal to try to get in there in a real way.\u201d<\/p>\n

LeBrun also noted that Coleman has a partial no-move clause in his deal that runs through the 2026-27 season at $4.9 million per year, and would have a say on any potential move away from Calgary.<\/p>\n

Coleman leads the Flames with 13 goals on the season, adding eight assists for 21 points through 44 games appearances this season.<\/p>\n

Calgary has played to a 19-22-4 record, and are five points up on the Vancouver Canucks<\/a> for last place in the Pacific Division.<\/p>\n
