Boston Bruins star forward Morgan Geekie left Saturday afternoon\u2019s dominating win over the New York Rangers in the first period. The Bruins announced his absence was for \u201cfamily reasons,\u201d and he has now informed reporters of the real reason.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy wife just went into labor (during) the first game that I missed,\u201d Geekie said. \u201cHealthy baby boy. It has just been good to spend a couple of days with family.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Bruins\u2019 leading goal scorer revealed that his baby is named Max. Max is the Geekie family\u2019s second child, joining his older sister Gabby.<\/p>\n
Geekie recounted what happened when he was notified that his wife had gone into labor a \u201clittle early.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy wife was actually at the game,\u201d Geekie said. \u201cWe kind of snuck out of here. Long couple of days, but it\u2019s good to be back here and be with the guys.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The second-liner revealed that the family aspect of his life has been stressing his conscience during the season, and said he is relieved to be able to move on to the next step.<\/p>\n
\u201cObviously, it\u2019s been on my mind for a while, just because it\u2019s very unpredictable, but my wife\u2019s a champ,\u201d Geekie said. \u201cIt\u2019s tough to get that out of your mind \u2014 especially when things are at the forefront \u2014 but it\u2019s good, everybody is healthy. Just looking forward to getting back to it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Bruins\u2019 offense struggled without him during Sunday night\u2019s 1-0 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.<\/p>\n
He will be back in the lineup for the second-to-last game of this Bruins homestand Tuesday night against the Detroit Red Wings.<\/p>\n
