The Detroit Red Wings continue to be linked to a possible trade for Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson, although there has been nothing leaking out of GM Steve Yzerman\u2019s organization.<\/p>\n
A deal for Andersson would certainly make some sense because the Red Wings have been looking for a proven top four defensemen since last summer. Andersson plays 24:09 minutes per game for the Calgary Flames as an effective two-way performer.\u00a0 With the NHL season just past the halfway point, Andersson shows 10 goals and 87 blocked shots. On a team close to the bottom of the stand, his plus minus is zero.<\/p>\n
Keep in mind that Andersson is on an expiring contract, meaning that if the Red Wings cannot re-sign him, then they are acquiring for the balance of the season, plus the playoffs. This is a rental situation. Also keep in mind that several teams want Andersson,<\/p>\n
