The Calgary Flames<\/a> are shaping up as clear sellers ahead of the trade deadline, with Rasmus Andersson<\/a>, Nazem Kadri<\/a> and Blake Coleman<\/a> all drawing interest for contenders.<\/p>\n

The Flames currently sit third-last in the NHL with a 19-23-4 record, seven points back of the San Jose Sharks<\/a> for the final wild-card spot in the Western Conference.<\/p>\n

Trade rumours have swirled around Andersson dating back to last summer as the veteran defenceman approaches unrestricted free agency in July. Kadri remains signed through the 2028-29 season at a cap hit of $7 million, while Coleman is under contract through next season at cap hit of $4.9 million.<\/p>\n

Andersson was listed at No. 2 on TSN\u2019s first Trade Bait board of 2026 Thursday, ahead of Kadri at No. 8 and Coleman at No. 6. TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger reports, however, that the Flames appear content to hold on to Coleman and the veteran leadership he brings to the team.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you look at it from a Flames\u2019 perspective, this isn\u2019t a tear-down, full-on rebuild, but they do know that they need to get younger,\u201d Dreger said Thursday on Early Trading.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd when you\u2019re looking at Andersson, doesn\u2019t it feel like his name\u2019s been out there for a long time? A year, maybe even more than that? The interest in Andersson, the talented defenceman, has been consistent, and it\u2019s going to continue to develop.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo it does definitely seem like he is priority one, and if Conroy is able to get what he needs from Andersson via trade, and gets what he needs from Kadri if, in fact, Kadri is traded, then I think he\u2019s in a position where he can back off a little bit.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m curious to see the name of Coleman out there – I know that teams are calling Conroy and asking about Coleman, it\u2019s because of his winning resume.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis guy\u2019s won Stanley Cups, but it\u2019s also the type of player he is and the type of man he is. But those are characteristics and attributes that the Flames need. You can\u2019t trade everybody. You\u2019ve got to have a backbone to the culture side of your team, and Coleman is definitely that.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, I would downplay the speculation around Coleman. Anything is possible, but I would say his place on that trade list \u2013 in terms of how high he is \u2013 is a little misplaced at this point. It\u2019s unlikely he gets dealt.”<\/p>\n

Andersson, 29, has 10 goals and 29 points in 46 games this season while averaging a team-high 24:08 of ice time.<\/p>\n

Drafted 53rd overall by the Flames in 2015, Andersson has 57 goals and 260 points in 582 career games. He will represent Sweden at the Olympics next month after captaining the team a bronze at the World Hockey Championship last spring.<\/p>\n

Kadri, 35, has eight goals and 32 points in 46 games with the Flames this season, his fourth with the team.<\/p>\n

He helped the Avalanche win their first Stanley Cup in 21 years in 2022, recording seven goals and 15 points in his most recent trip to the postseason.<\/p>\n

Coleman, 34, is currently on injured reserve with an undisclosed injury. He has 13 goals and 21 points in 44 games this season.<\/p>\n

TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun reported last week that the Montreal Canadiens<\/a> were among the teams with interest in Coleman, who won back-to-back Stanley Cups with the Tampa Bay Lightning<\/a> in 2020 and 2021.<\/p>\n

The Flames have not made the playoffs since 2022, missing the postseason by just two points last year.<\/p>\n
