The Penguins received a boost with the return of Sidney Crosby, who contributed a goal and an assist, while Evgeni Malkin and Tommy Novak chipped in two assists apiece. Goaltender Stuart Skinner also had 30 saves, keeping the Penguins ahead all the way. This was a much-needed win for the Penguins, as they had only scored two goals in the last three matches. The Philadelphia, on the other hand, continues to struggle, as the Flyers have extended their losing streak to five games, having been outscored 25-9 in the process. Matvei Michkov, Rodrigo Abols, and Nick Seeler found the net for Philadelphia, but it wasn’t enough to challenge Pittsburgh’s balanced attack.

Sidney Crosby gives Penguins an early lead as power play dominates Flyers’ struggles

NHL Highlights | Flyers vs. Penguins – January 15, 2026

Pittsburgh established an early lead with Justin Brazeau scoring on a power play just seconds before the first period’s end. Bryan Rust added a second power-play goal midway through the period, followed by Egor Chinakhov extending the lead to 3-0 in the second. Philadelphia responded quickly with Abols deflecting a shot from Cam York, but the Flyers’ early efforts weren’t enough to slow the Penguins. Goalie Samuel Ersson allowed three goals on 14 shots before Aleksei Kolosov replaced him in relief, making 13 saves.Special teams were a key factor, with Crosby converting a third-period power play to make it 5-1. Philadelphia’s ongoing difficulties on the penalty kill have been costly, as they have allowed 12 power-play goals in their past eight games. Connor Dewar added another for Pittsburgh before Seeler and Michkov finished the scoring for the Flyers, making it 6-3.The win for Pittsburgh showed their strength in taking advantage of crucial moments and dictating play, while for Philadelphia, it seems their season of struggles continues. Flyers head coach Rick Tocchet revealed a lack of discipline in play, such as penalties for stick infractions and poor positioning on some plays. As both teams can expect a long season, it will be necessary for both Pittsburgh to keep up their strong play and for Philadelphia to get back on track after such a tough stretch. Also Read: Sidney Crosby revisits the moment Penguins were called soft, revealing what Michel Therrien really meant back then

Sidney Crosby leads Penguins to 6-3 win over Flyers (Image via: Getty Images) The Penguins snapped their three-game…

[5113
2593,1495,1468,5,181,4,118,56,1469,100,5216,768,157
0":"post-410875","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-pittsburgh-penguins","8":"tag-crosby","9":"tag-evgeni-malkin","10":"tag-flyers","11":"tag-hockey","12":"tag-hockey-news","13":"tag-nhl","14":"tag-penguins","15":"tag-philadelphia-flyers","16":"tag-pittsburgh","17":"tag-pittsburgh-penguins","18":"tag-pittsburghpenguins","19":"tag-sidney-crosby","20":"tag-stuart-skinner
["GET
