It\u2019s been a quick turnaround for the Winnipeg Jets<\/a>, who were in the basement of the league a week ago after losing their 11th consecutive game but have now rattled off four straight wins after a 6-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild<\/a> on Thursday.<\/p>\n

So what has led to this resurgent streak?<\/p>\n

Star forward Mark Scheifele<\/a> kept things simple when speaking to reporters after the victory in which he recorded a goal and three assists.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we\u2019ve just been playing better hockey,\u201d Scheifele said. \u201cEveryone\u2019s firing on all cylinders. Guys are making plays, holding on to pucks, just kind of … making the play in front of them. So, it\u2019s been a great team effort.\u201d<\/p>\n

Not all losing streaks are the same. Four of the 11 losses in a row the Jets suffered from Dec. 15 – Jan. 8 came in overtime, and nine of those losses were by one goal. <\/p>\n

Over their past four games, the Jets have rattled off two commanding four-goal victories and have outscored their opponents 20-10. Their goal differential over their past 15, despite the 4-7-4 record, is only minus-3.<\/p>\n

Improved goal scoring has played a significant role in the recent surge. \u201cWhat I really liked [on Thursday] was that there were six goals from six different people,\u201d head coach Scott Arniel<\/a> said to reporters after the game. \u201dWe\u2019ve been struggling to score goals, but in the last probably three weeks here it\u2019s starting to go the right way for us.\u201d<\/p>\n

And while there is hope that this version of the Jets that have produced four wins in a row can make more consistent appearances, the team also has to deal with the fact that at 19-22-5 and at the bottom of the Central Division standings, playoff contention is still a ways away.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wouldn\u2019t say that now,\u201d Arniel said when asked if he believed that this victory over the third-place Wild could be considered a \u2018statement win\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we were battling for first or second place it might be something, but we\u2019re trying to catch teams right now. For us, we\u2019re trying to pile them together, keep piling points up, try and catch these teams sitting above,\u201d Arniel said. \u201cNow we\u2019re watching Calgary, Chicago and Utah, those teams sitting above us are the ones we\u2019re after.\u201d<\/p>\n
