The Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a> took on the Vegas Golden Knights<\/a> on Thursday night.<\/p>\n

And you know what that means: Mitch Marner against his former team.<\/p>\n

The Maple Leafs, of course, signed-and-traded Marner to the Golden Knights in the offseason after Marner made it clear he wouldn’t be returning to Toronto in free agency. So they got Nicolas Roy in return, and Vegas got an extra year on Marner’s contract.<\/p>\n

Now, the two-way star Marner is having a great season in Vegas while the Leafs have struggled for much of the campaign.<\/p>\n

When they faced off Thursday night, Marner shared an amusing moment (at least to the neutral fan) with his former star teammate Auston Matthews.<\/p>\n

When both left the ice at the end of warmups, Marner fired a puck over toward Matthews.<\/p>\n

Matthews seemed to ignore it, and after the game, he said, “I didn’t look over. I’ve had enough of the Mitch Marner questions.”<\/p>\n

That was just the beginning of a wild night that featured Vegas winning 6-5 in OT.<\/p>\n

Matthews scored a goal, while Marner dished out two assists.<\/p>\n

The OT winner was scored by Jack Eichel on an assist from Mark Stone.<\/p>\n

Toronto had led the game 3-1 early on Matthews’ goal, then 4-2 and 5-3, as well. Tomas Hertl forced overtime on a goal with seven seconds left in the third period.<\/p>\n

And so it was Marner and his new team getting the last laugh on this night.<\/p>\n
