While there have been heated battles along the way, Edmonton has come out on top all four times. As a result, in recent years, the Kings have been taking an “if you can’t beat them, take their players” approach.

Warren Foegele, Cody Ceci, Corey Perry, and even GM Ken Holland have switched sides in this rivalry—and it sounds like they’re not stopping there.

According to Mayor’s Manor, an in-depth hockey news site that closely follows the Kings, Holland is reportedly exploring the possibility of bringing another former Oiler to Southern California, this time Canucks winger Evander Kane.

Mayor’s Manor wrote:

“While it’s still a rumor — something we don’t normally spend too much time on, but this was just too intriguing to not stop and give it pause for a few minutes — two separate sources over the past week have said they believe Holland is kicking the tires on a potential Kane trade,”

The 34-year-old Kane has only recorded 21 points (seven goals, 14 assists) in 46 games played in Vancouver this season. He’s a pending UFA in the fourth and final season of the four-year, $20.5 million extension he signed with the Oilers back in 2022.

Evander Kane Likely to Be Moved Before the Deadline

It hasn’t been a great 2025-26 season—to say the least—for Kane, but that shouldn’t prevent him from being flipped as a rental in the coming weeks as the Canucks continue their rebuild.

Ken Holland Evander Kane Oilers

Reports from Thomas Drance suggest a mid-round pick is about what they can expect in return, with the market for Kane remaining lukewarm at this point in time. We also know that Vancouver recently attempted to send the veteran winger back to Edmonton with no success, as GM Stan Bowman seemingly has no interest in a reunion.

All things considered, given the limited market, the Kings could very well be in the driver’s seat to land Kane—especially considering his history with Holland. Wouldn’t it be something if they acquire Kane and then sneak into third place in the Pacific Division to face the two-seed Oilers for a fifth consecutive year?

Next: Stuart Skinner Appears to Take Subtle Jabs at Oilers and Fans

The Edmonton Oilers and Los Angeles Kings are bitter rivals who have met in the first round of…

[5126
690,5,612,186,1760,240,5303,793,145,5304,5302,4,2175
0":"post-411182","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-los-angeles-kings","8":"tag-evander-kane","9":"tag-hockey","10":"tag-ken-holland","11":"tag-kings","12":"tag-la","13":"tag-la-kings","14":"tag-lakings","15":"tag-los-angeles","16":"tag-los-angeles-kings","17":"tag-losangeles","18":"tag-losangeleskings","19":"tag-nhl","20":"tag-top-story
["GET
