Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced on Friday that the team has acquired a 2026 fourth-round draft pick from the Anaheim Ducks<\/a> in exchange for forward Jeffrey Viel. The pick will be the earlier of Anaheim\u2019s two fourth-round selections, originally acquired from Detroit and Philadelphia.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old winger has appeared in 64 career NHL games with Boston and San Jose, registering three goals and two assists. The Rimouski, Quebec native was originally signed by San Jose as a free agent in 2019. The Bruins signed Viel as a free agent on July 1, 2024, to a two-year contract.<\/p>\n

Viel played ten games this season with Boston, tallying zero points and was a minus-1 as primarily a bottom-six forward. The 6-foot-1, 215-pound forward averaged just over nine minutes of average ice time in those games and has only played in one game since November 29. <\/p>\n

The Bruins currently hold nine selections in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft, which is scheduled for June 26-27 at KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York. Boston owns two 1st-round picks, one 2nd-round pick, one 3rd-round pick, three 4th-round picks, one 6th-round pick, and one 7th-round pick.\u00a0<\/p>\n
