The Colorado Eagles have some notable players on the team, and two of them have been named to the 2026 All-Star Classic.

Forward Jayson Megna and goaltender Isak Posch were the two players from the Eagles that were named. The additional person to be named was head coach Mark Letestu.

Megna has been the Eagles’ captain for the past four seasons, which makes him a solid candidate to take on that role during the All-Star game, along with Patrick Brown of the Boston Bruins/Providence Bruins.

Megna is enjoying a career-year for the Eagles, playing 34 games, snatching 19 goals and 11 assists. While he had 19 goals last season, that was in 65 total games. He is on pace for 40 goals and 23 assists for 63 points. As a call-up for the Avalanche, he has played in 49 games, his last 14 during the 2022-23 season. He has zero goals and five assists as a call-up with the Avs.

Posch has played in 21 total games in two seasons with the Eagles, with 20 of those games coming this season. He’s got a 2.45 goals-against average this season, allowing 49 goals, with a save percentage of .902 (450 saves).

Recently, Avalanche/Eagles reporter Brennan Vogt floated the idea of Trent Miner potentially being a trade candidate given that the team hopes that they can get recent draft pick Ilya Nabokov over to Loveland in the near future. The unfortunate side of the NHL is that there are only so many roster spots, so the organization might decide to move on from a player that they like once in a while. However, that might truly be in the best interest for Miner to get more playing time elsewhere if Nabokov truly is worthy of a starting role.

Teams are always looking to improve their organization. If they are set at one position, they might consider trading pieces away for players at a weaker area. The Avalanche don’t have a ton of notable prospects right now, so we’ll see if anything comes from the thought that they could acquire some depth.

Lastly, head coach Mark Letestu was named as the head coach of the Pacific Division squad. The Eagles named Letestu their head coach in July after he spent four seasons as the assistant coach of the AHL’s Cleveland Monsters. He spent 11 years in the NHL, starting with the Pittsburgh Penguins as an undrafted free agent in 2009, and finishing his career in 2019-20 with the Winnipeg Jets.

The Colorado Avalanche, like other NHL teams, often call up players from their AHL affiliate team.
