The Bruins<\/a> could be set to dive into the trade market early.<\/p>\n

Boston is among a small group of teams heavily pursuing Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson, who is expected to be traded as part of Calgary\u2019s rebuild.<\/p>\n

SportsNet Canada\u2019s Darren Dreger<\/a> tweeted:<\/p>\n

\u201cThings can develop quickly. However, sources say 4 teams remain in the mix for Flames Dman, Rasmus Andersson. Two teams in the east and two in the west. Boston and Vegas are strong contenders. Unless there\u2019s progress, there\u2019s a decent chance Andersson plays today for Cgy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Anderson, who is on Team Sweden for next month\u2019s Olympics,<\/a> is a 29-year-old in the midst of a strong season.<\/p>\n

Andersson is a right-shot defenseman, a commodity the Bruins are lacking, not only in Boston but throughout the organization.<\/p>\n

Under his current deal, he\u2019d be a free agent after this season, but agreeing to an extension could be part of the trade.<\/p>\n

Andersson is in his 10th NHL season and has played his entire career for the Flames. The second-round pick in 2015 and is a former Calgary teammate of Elias Lindholm<\/a> and Nikita Zadorov. His age lines up with the current core or the Bruins roster as the team attempts to become a contender again quickly.<\/p>\n

The Bruins have considerable draft capital available to move.<\/p>\n

He has 10 goals and 29 assists in 47 games this seasons and in his career has 57 goals and 203 assists in 583 games. He\u2019s averaging 24:12 on the ice per game. He plays both the power play (four goals, six assists on PP) and kills penalties for the Flames.<\/p>\n
