The Edmonton Oilers<\/a>, at full strength, have the incredible offensive tandem of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.<\/p>\n

At least for a little while, though, they’ll be without Draisaitl.<\/p>\n

The Oilers announced Saturday that Draisaitl is leaving the team temporarily.<\/p>\n

Why isn’t Leon Draisaitl with the Oilers?<\/p>\n

Draisaitl is away from Edmonton to attend to a family matter.<\/p>\n

This is what the Oilers announced<\/a>:<\/p>\n

“Edmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl will be taking a brief leave of absence to attend to a family illness in Germany. He is expected to return to the team later next week. On behalf of Leon, the club asks for privacy at this time.”<\/p>\n

Draisaitl is a 30-year old superstar.<\/p>\n

This season, in 48 games, he has 25 goals and 42 assists (67 points).<\/p>\n

In his career, he has 1,023 points in 838 games, broken down as 424 goals and 599 assists.<\/p>\n

Draisaitl has played all 838 of his career NHL games with the Oilers after being the No. 3 overall pick in the 2014 NHL Draft.<\/p>\n
