The Rasmus Andersson sweepstakes is heating up but there is no definitive word that the Detroit Red Wings are still in it.<\/p>\n
Darren Dreger is reporting that there are four teams still in the running to acquire Andersson. He says there are two teams from the East and two from the West, and he only identifies the Boston Bruins and Vegas Golden Knights.<\/p>\n
There is reason to believe the Red Wings are not the other team in the East because we hear that Swede Andersson doesn\u2019t want to sign with a new team because he wants to explore his free agency this summer. Based on what we are hearing, the Red Wings are not willing to give up significant assets for a rental player.<\/p>\n
No one is reporting any confirmation of what the Red Wings are going to do. We do know the Red Wings like Andersson\u2019s game and likely will bid on him as an unrestricted free agent this summer.<\/p>\n
The Andersson acquisition is not an easy deal to make for any of the teams.\u00a0 It has been reported that the Flames are seeking the two first-round picks (or the equivalent) plus another asset.<\/p>\n
The Flames are home to play the New York Islanders today. We will know if a deal is close if the Flames scratch Andersson for that game.<\/p>\n
