Rasmus Andersson\u2019s name is heating up ahead of the Olympic trade freeze. Also, the Capitals lose again ahead of their trip to Denver, and Sean Couturier isn\u2019t happy with the Flyers\u2019 recent play.<\/p>\n

Colorado Hockey Now<\/p>\n

The Avalanche took the day off on Saturday, and so did I. At least aside from the usual \u2018Daily.\u2019<\/p>\n

It feels like this is the part of the season where the team needs to tread water and get to the Olympic break. Sure, several of their guys are going to the Olympics, but it\u2019ll still be a nice break for everyone.<\/p>\n

The guys who aren\u2019t going can rest and recharge, and they\u2019ll benefit from it. And even the ones who will go are going to play a maximum of six games between Feb. 5 and Feb. 25. It\u2019s intense hockey with a lot of travel and commitment. But it\u2019ll still be a bit of a rest from the grind of the hockey season.<\/p>\n

The Avs are practicing today. We\u2019ll see where they\u2019re at, and if they\u2019re able to right some of those bad habits creeping into their game ahead of a matchup v.s. Washington on Monday.<\/p>\n

Around The NHL<\/p>\n

Rasmus Andersson:\u00a0It sounds like Rasmus Andersson could be on the move as early as today. He played for Calgary yesterday and the way he soaked in those final moments after the buzzer sounded reminded me of Brock Nelson\u2019s emotional last game with the Islanders before he was traded to Colorado.<\/p>\n

Elliotte Friedman had an update on where things stand in his Saturday Headlines segment.<\/a><\/p>\n

Pittsburgh Hockey Now:\u00a0Charlie Coyle<\/a> was the shootout hero for the Blue Jackets in Pittsburgh. That was something the Avs could\u2019ve benefitted from had he not been traded.<\/p>\n

Philly Hockey Now: Sean Couturier didn\u2019t hold back on how he feels<\/a> after an embarrassing sixth consecutive loss for the Flyers.<\/p>\n

Montreal Hockey Now:\u00a0The Habs won.<\/a> But so did the Leafs and Bruins as the race in the Atlantic Division continues to intensify.<\/p>\n

Florida Hockey Now:\u00a0Florida rebounded from a brutal loss to the Rangers. They defeated the Caps 5-2.<\/a> Now both Colorado and Washington are going to be itching for a rebound in Monday\u2019s 2 p.m. matinee at Ball Arena.<\/p>\n
