Rasmus Andersson is on the move.<\/p>\n

The Calgary Flames<\/a> defenseman has been traded to the Vegas Golden Knights, according to TSN\u2019s Darren Dreger<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The return, according to SportsNet\u2019s Elliotte Friedman<\/a>, os Zach Whitecloud, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2027 second-round pick that becomes a first if Vegas wins the Stanley Cup Cup this year, and UND defenseman Abram Weibe.<\/p>\n

NHL insider Frank Servalli reported<\/a> the trade will happen with out a contract extension for Andersson, who is set to become a free agent at the end of this season. <\/p>\n

As part of the deal, the Flames will retain 50% of Andersson\u2019s salary. His cap hit for 2025-26 is $4.55 million. <\/p>\n

Andersson now joins former Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n

The Boston Bruins were linked to Andersson<\/a>, and were said to be in the \u201cdriver\u2019s seat<\/a>\u201d by Friedman, who noted the Golden Knights were still in the running. <\/p>\n

The right-shot defenseman would have been a nice fit for Boston, given its need for the role he plays. Andersson is also a former teammate of Elias Lindholm<\/a> and Nikita Zadorov.<\/p>\n

In 48 games for the Flames this season, Andersson has 10 goals, 20 assists and is averaging 24:14 of ice time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Rasmus Andersson is on the move.
