Ahead of the San Jose Sharks\u2019 key game against the Florida Panthers on Monday, multiple roster moves were made.<\/p>\n
First and foremost, the Sharks acquired Kiefer Sherwood<\/a> from the Vancouver Canucks for two picks and d-man Cole Clayton. While the winger is hurt, the newest winger will join the Sharks with 17 goals in 44 games and is second in the NHL in hits with 210.<\/p>\n Sherwood remains on IR with the Sharks after the trade, and reports say that Sherwood might be out until after the NHL\u2019s Olympic break. The Sharks visit the Vancouver Canucks on Jan. 27, but it appears unlikely that Sherwood will be in the lineup.<\/p>\n Philipp Kurahsev<\/a> has joined<\/a> the San Jose Sharks for their final two games of a four-game road trip. While the winger is dealing with a left arm\/wrist injury, head coach Ryan Warsofsky still deems the forward week-to-week. It is unclear where Sherwood or Kurashev will slot in when they return from injury, but it appears there is time to figure it out.<\/p>\n Another big move for the San Jose Sharks is the return of Big Vinny, Vincent Desharnais<\/a>. Desharnais will rejoin Sam Dickinson<\/a> on defense and be a welcome addition to the penalty kill. Since Nov. 27, right after Desharnais suffered an upper-body injury, the Sharks\u2019 PK is a lowly 73.1%. That ranks 27th in the NHL.<\/p>\n The 6\u20197 blue liner has played in 20 games this season, registering two assists, is +1, and averaging 16:33 TOI per game.<\/p>\n In order for Desharnais to be activated from IR, the Sharks waived defenseman Nick Leddy<\/a> on Sunday. The 34-year-old cleared waivers and has been assigned to the San Jose Barracuda of the AHL.
