No team is yet to convince the Carolina Hurricanes that dealing Necas is the right decision, however, a surplus in Montreal could lead to the framework of a potential deal. [<a href=\"https:\/\/montrealhockeynow.com\/2024\/06\/16\/montreal-canadiens-draft-pick-value-habs-bergevin-hughes-2024\/\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"(opens in a new tab)\">Habs Analysis: Pre-Draft Value Of 2024 Montreal Canadiens Picks<\/a>]<\/p>\n<p>FC Hockey has put together an interesting 2024 mock draft tool which lets you pick for any organization, while the remainder of the picks are automated.\u00a0 [<a href=\"https:\/\/nhlentrydraft.com\/mock-draft\/\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"(opens in a new tab)\">FC Hockey<\/a>]<br \/>\nThe Habs signed prospect Oliver Kapanen to a three-year, entry-level contract. Kapanen had a slow start to his season, but finished on a strong note, including seven goals and seven assists in 13 playoff games. If Kapanen fails to earn an NHL roster spot at camp, the expectation is that he\u2019ll be loaned to Timra IK in the SHL rather than heading to the AHL to play with the Laval Rocket. Former Canadiens trade target Pierre-Luc Dubois was moved to the Washington Capitals in exchange for 34-year-old goaltender Darcy Kuemper. Despite paying a them ransom to acquire Dubois in the first place, the Kings quickly pulled the plug on the experiment just one year into his eight-year contract, which carries a ridiculous $8.5 million annual average value. He\u2019s just 25-years-old, which means he has time to rebound, but the decision to avoid further trade negotiations with the Winnipeg Jets last summer was a wise decision by Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes.
