The Montreal Canadiens were once again the center of the hockey universe on Tuesday as the NHL and the White House held their annual NHL Lottery Draft amidst huge security and cronies.<\/p>\n

Montreal Canadiens<\/p>\n

There was no rigging or bad luck as the ping pong balls fell the way of the Montreal Canadiens at the NHL Draft<\/a> Lottery Tuesday. The Habs will now pick first overall for the first time since they drafted Doug Wickenheiser with the only other No. 1 pick they ever had.<\/p>\n

Even if the Montreal Canadiens didn\u2019t win the NHL Draft lottery on Tuesday night, they still could\u2019ve picked first overall; and if not, were either going to be the second or third picks overall. So what prospects other than Shane Wright<\/a> could the Habs choose from of that happened?<\/p>\n

National Hockey Now<\/p>\n

BOS: Just prior to a 5-1 loss for the Bruins to the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 5, Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy<\/a> arrived at PNC Arena in Charlotte and played after head coach Bruce Cassidy said he was out.<\/p>\n

NYI: The New York Islanders<\/a> will pick 13th overall at the 2022 NHL Entry Draft after not moving up or down at the NHL Draft Lottery.<\/p>\n

Pitt: Let this sink in: Pittsburgh Penguins<\/a> third string goalie and career backup journeyman Louis Domingue is outplaying newly nominated Vezina Trophy candidate and New York Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin.<\/p>\n

Philly: The Philadelphia Flyers<\/a> will pick fifth overall at the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.<\/p>\n

Wash: Will the Washington Capitals<\/a> pad their \u2018Black Aces\u2019 pool with AHL affiliate Hershey Bears knocked out of the Calder Cup Playoffs?<\/p>\n

FLA: In another example of \u2018What the hell are the Sabres doing?\u2019, they traded Sam Reinhart to the Florida Panthers<\/a> and that trade is paying dividends once again in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Detroit: Will the Detroit Red Wings<\/a> hire a European head coach?<\/p>\n

Colorado: Will the rest the Colorado Avalanche<\/a> are ready t experience help or hurt them?<\/p>\n

San Jose: The San Jose Sharks<\/a> will pick 11th overall at the NHL Entry Draft.<\/p>\n

Calgary: Calgary Flames goaltender Jacob Markstrom<\/a> is a 2022 Vezina Trophy finalist.<\/p>\n

VAN: Is Vancouver Canucks defenceman Oliver Ekman-Larsson<\/a> on the NHL Trade block again?<\/p>\n

NHL<\/p>\n

Veteran Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a> forward Jason Spezza rallied the troops with an inspiring speech in the first intermission and the Leafs beat the Tampa Lightning 4-3 in Game 5. The Leafs now head south to Tampa with a chance to advance to the second round for the first time since 2004.<\/p>\n
