A National Hockey League insider has given an update this week on trade talks involving the Vancouver Canucks and Swedish centerman Elias Pettersson.<\/p>\n

After a strong summer working out and preparing for the 2025-26 campaign, Elias Pettersson hasn’t quite bounced back in the way that everyone was hoping, but he does look a lot better than he did last season.<\/p>\n

“There’s a growing suspicion around the league that we will. I can just tell you from the volume of calls and the interest that the Vancouver Canucks have fielded that it feels like it’s trending in that direction and that he’s gaining some traction on the trade market.” Seravalli said on Monday’s edition of Frankly Hockey.<\/p>\n

NHL insider gives update on trade talks involving Vancouver Canucks’ Elias Pettersson<\/p>\n

During an appearance on Oilers Now yesterday, Seravalli described the situation as teams are “banging down the door” for Elias Pettersson and that interest in him has picked up significantly within the last ten days.<\/p>\n

“Teams are beating the Canucks door down (for him). There’s been real and significant interest in Elias Pettersson over the past 10 days.” Seravalli said.<\/p>\n

With interest picking up, at this rate it wouldn’t come as a surprise to many if the Vancouver Canucks were able to find a trade partner for the Sundsvall, Sweden native before the deadline, which is just 45 days away.<\/p>\n

However, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported on Tuesday that he doesn’t get the sense that Elias Pettersson is willing to waive his no-movement clause right now, with Rick Dhaliwal of Donnie & Dhali adding that his agents aren’t too pleased with the rumors.<\/p>\n

“I haven’t had any indication that he’s willing to waive right now.” Friedman said.<\/p>\n

Dhaliwal added, “His agents aren’t super happy with all these rumors.”<\/p>\n

If the Vancouver Canucks are seriously considering moving on from Elias Pettersson, they could end up getting a fairly decent return for him, even if they don’t retain any salary, with getting a return of another first round pick and a young, NHL-ready forward needing to be the goal for Patrik Allvin and Jim Rutherford<\/p>\n
