The New Jersey Devils<\/a>‘ star player of Jack Hughes has officially hit game No. 400.<\/p>\n

He hit the mark with the Jan. 20 game against the Edmonton Oilers<\/a>. Hughes hit the milestone at only 24 years old.\u00a0Selected first overall by the Devils in the 2019 NHL Draft, in his 399 previous games Hughes logged 382 points across 152 goals and 230 assists. Despite missing 18 games this season due to a hand injury sustained in a freak accident, Hughes entered play against the Oilers ranking third on the Devils’ roster\u00a0with 31 points.<\/p>\n

Prior to play against Edmonton, New Jersey’s most recent game was against the Calgary Flames<\/a>. Hughes tallied\u00a0seven shots on goal and an assists on teammate\u00a0Simon Nemec’s overtime winner.<\/p>\n

Hughes hitting game No. 400 also represents how the league has been trending younger \u2014 his name is among players such as Connor Bedard (20), Macklin Celebrini (19), Matthew Schaefer (18) that prove the level of skill across the NHL is growing at younger and younger ages.<\/p>\n

Devils recognize latest milestone for Jack Hughes amidst Luke Hughes injury drama<\/p>\n

Born in Orlando, Florida, Hughes holds the USA National Team Development Program records for assists (154) and points (228) in 110 games over two seasons of work. He also led the 2019 IIHF World Under-18 Championship with 20 points.<\/p>\n

Prior to playing in hundreds and hundreds of games for New Jersey, Hughes<\/a> played 61 games for the Devils at only 18.<\/p>\n

This latest good news for the Hughes family comes in the midst of the center’s younger brother \u2014 Luke, who also plays for New Jersey \u2014 awaiting an official diagnosis on what appears to be a shoulder injury.<\/p>\n

Luke\u00a0did not return for the final period against the Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome after leaving mid-way through the second period. It is being reported that Luke hyperextending his shoulder during a puck battle with Calgary’s right wing Adam Klapka and center Justin Kirkland.<\/p>\n

Reports of a potential dislocated shoulder seem to be the most common while Luke is currently consulting with his Colorado doctor, per Devils’ beat reporter Kristy Flannery<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Jack originally returned from his own injury with a goal while hosting the Buffalo Sabres<\/a> on Dec. 21.<\/p>\n

Following the conclusion of play against the Oilers, Jack will hit game No. 401 against the Vancouver Canucks<\/a> on Jan. 23 before traveling to Seattle to take on the Kraken to finish off the Devils’ four-game road stretch.<\/p>\n
