{"id":419646,"date":"2026-01-21T11:13:14","date_gmt":"2026-01-21T11:13:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/419646\/"},"modified":"2026-01-21T11:13:14","modified_gmt":"2026-01-21T11:13:14","slug":"the-gratitude-that-i-have-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/419646\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018The gratitude that I have\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">LAS VEGAS (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox5vegas.com\/2026\/01\/19\/las-vegas-woman-reunites-with-nurse-that-saved-her-life-during-golden-knights-game\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.fox5vegas.com\/2026\/01\/19\/las-vegas-woman-reunites-with-nurse-that-saved-her-life-during-golden-knights-game\/\">KVVU<\/a>\/Gray News) \u2014 A woman in Las Vegas reunited Friday with the nurse who saved her life when she suffered a medical emergency during a hockey game.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Jeannie Cunningham attended a Vegas Golden Knights hockey game against Chicago with her friend Linda Fucci when she suddenly collapsed during the first period.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe watched the first period and we were going to go to the ladies room, and she [Fucci] suddenly said that I looked really tired,\u201d Cunningham said. \u201cI could feel myself sliding down the pole onto the steps and I did it in slow motion, I actually felt myself, and some guy started yelling I was having a seizure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Cunningham said she had never experienced anything like this before. She collapsed and became unresponsive, leaving Fucci in a panic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Also at the game was nurse Susie Teems. She saw Cunningham collapse and immediately jumped into action.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThen Superwoman came, jumped over fans, and she was\u2026 the CPR\u2026 [she] was so fast. She took total control,\u201d Fucci said of Teems.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Teems was not in a cape or even in her scrubs that night, but still dropped everything to help when she saw Cunningham on the floor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI just looked at her, and I saw that she was agonal breathing. She was staring straight up, and then I felt for a pulse, and she didn\u2019t have one,\u201d Teems said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Teems performed CPR until an automated external defibrillator arrived.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIt did take a while to get the AED on her. Just doing CPR. That\u2019s what was amazing is basic CPR and AED saved her,\u201d Teems said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">After Teems stepped in to save Cunningham, first responders took her to the hospital, where doctors told her she had gone into cardiac arrest. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">After Cunningham recovered, she and Fucci wanted to find the person who saved her life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI just made a little post on Facebook, you know, thank you to the people &#8230; whoever helped my friend in a medical emergency. That\u2019s all I wrote,\u201d Fucci said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Teems eventually saw the post and reached out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI said, \u2018Well, give her my number. I want to talk to her,\u2019\u201d Teems said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The three women have now formed a lasting bond through the life-saving experience.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cCome to a person\u2019s aid because you can do something to help another person,\u201d Cunningham said. \u201cThe gratitude that I have for them from the depths of my heart, from my working heart now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">During their recent meeting, Teems gave Cunningham a new Golden Knights jersey to replace the one that was torn during CPR the night she collapsed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2026 KVVU via Gray Local Media, Inc.
